Take a vacation to Kochi prefecture, Ryoma style!

Kochi prefecture has collaborated with an online travel agency to set up a website which allows visitors to feasibly search for and book accommodations

To celebrate of the start of the travel season in 2019, Kochi prefecture is holding the “~Ryoma’s Vacation~ Naturally Japan, Naturally Kochi Campaign” aimed to introduce to travelers to a full, satisfying vacation in Kochi. In order to give visitors from all over the world the opportunity to enjoy the nature, long and abundant history and food culture that Kochi has to offer, all facilities and tourist attractions are coming together to give offer the best services possible. The campaign will be in effect all the way until the end of December 2020 and there will be many activities available for visitors to try out!

A website that lets you search for and simultaneously book both accommodations and activities: Kochi’s cooperation with multiple travel agencies to create a ground-breaking travel website

Kochi prefecture has partnered with 3 major companies (Activity Japan, asoview!, and Jalan), which specialize in organizing activities, in an effort to make planning more feasible for potential visitors. With this, users will be able to search for and simultaneously book desired activities on a wider database, making Kochi one of the municipalities in the nation to make such an effort.

Recommended Travel Destinations for February

○Niyodo River Houseboat (Yakatabune)

Cruise through one of the nation’s clearest waters on a Japanese-style houseboat. Visitors will be able to soak in the sights and sounds of nature as they ride along one of Kochi’s most famous rivers.   

○Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden

A botanical garden established in 1958 to celebrate the achievements of Tomitaro Makino who was known as the “Father of Japanese Botany.” The garden spans about 6 hectares and has over 3000 different types of plants which can be found in all different seasons. Here, visitors can truly be surrounded by nature as they learn about various types of plants.

○Muroto Dolphin Center

A facility centered on the concept of “communication between dolphins and humans.” There are currently 4 dolphins at the facility where there are opportunities for visitors to try out being a trainer as well as swim with the dolphins.

○Muroto Haiko Aquarium

An old school in Muroto city which was renovated into an aquarium. The facility opened in April 2018 and has since gathered over 100,000 visitors in a period of 6 months. The outside pool and tank within the school features sharks, Japanese amberjack, and mackerels slowly swimming for a relaxing atmosphere.
